3 John 1:12

Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

Demetrius - a hospitable presbyter in the place; or else one of the missionary strangers who bore the letter. Of all men - who have opportunity of knowing his character.

Of the truth itself. The Gospel standard of truth witnesses that he walks conformably to it, in real love, hospitality to the brethren (in contrast to Diotrephes), etc. Compare .
