He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:

Hew down the tree - (; , "Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?") The holy one (so in "saints" mean angels) incites his fellow-angels to God's appointed work (cf. ; , "Another angel came ... crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle and reap").

Let the beast get away from under it - it shall no longer afford them shelter ().
