And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

Staff - the avenging rod.

Shall pass, which the Lord shall lay upon him - the Assyrian; type of all God's enemies in every age.

(It) shall be with tabrets ... - `every passing through (infliction, ) of the appointed rod, which the Lord shall lay upon him, shall be with tabrets' - i:e., shall be accompanied with joy on the part of the rescued peoples.

And in battles of shaking - i:e., in shock of battles (: cf. "sift ... sieve," ).

Will he fight with it - namely, Assyria.
