Jeremiah 22:8

And many nations shall pass by this city and they shall say every man to his neighbour Wherefore hath And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

Many nations ... shall say ... Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this great city - fulfilling to the letter , to which Jeremiah here alludes. The Gentile nations, more intelligent than you, shah understand that which ye do not-namely, that this city is a spectacle of God's vengeance (Calvin).
