And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

I do well to be angry, even unto death - `I am very much grieved, even to death' (Fairbairn). So the Antitype (, "My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death"). But how different were the feelings and motives of the type and Antitype. Jonah's grief was the fruit of his own inherent sin: Christ's was the fruit of our imputed sin.
