For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence - (; .) Not merely wickedness is their bread, and violence their wine (cf. ; , "Who eat up my people as they eat bread;" cf. , "My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me;" ); but also they get their livelihood, their bread and wine, by wickedness and violence. No wonder, then, that they cannot sleep except that they have done mischief (; cf. Proverbs 1:12; , "They drink the wine of the condemned").
