The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. "The stone" is the foundation-stone of the temple laid by Zerubbabel, an earnest of the whole temple, in building which the adversaries of Judah thwarted him, but he was enabled 'by the Spirit of the Lord' to "bring forth the head stone thereof, with shoutings ... Grace, grace, unto it" (; Zechariah 4:6: cf. Ezra 3:10; Ezra 4:1).
