Let the high praises of God (be) in their mouth. "High praises of God" - i:e., praises extolling God on high ().

And a two-edged sword in their hand - such as Nehemiah and his fellow-workmen had in one hand, while with the other they worked at building the wall (). Even when they were giving thanks, they still carried swords in their hands (cf. , which describes a procession to the temple, in which perhaps they still bore their swords; but see note, ).
