For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,

For mine enemies speak against me ... God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him. The ungodly persecute the saints most when they think, because of the sufferings of the latter, that they are given up by God (Psalms 3:2; Psalms 41:7). So Ahithophel spake as to David when fleeing from Absalom (2 Samuel 17:2).

For there is none to deliver him - (Psalms 7:2.)
