And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, everything pertaining to their covenant, behold, the Lord be between thee and me forever, for it was in His fear that they should feel bound to keep their promises of mutual faithfulness. True friendship and mercy requires us to take as eager and real an interest in the weal and woe of another as if it concerned ourselves, to stand by him in danger, and to show kindness even to the children of one who has bestowed kindness upon us.
