So Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem, the capital being obliged to open its gates to him, and took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king's house; he took all, many millions of dollars worth of precious metals. He carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made, 1 Kings 10:16, whose value has been estimated at between $1,200,000 and $1,500,000.
