Then shall his mind change, then the spirit of the enemy revives, and he shall pass over, passing on in his whirlwind campaign, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god, or, "he becomes guilty, for this his power is his god," he deifies himself. With these words the Lord points out that the climax of Babylonia's power would thereby be reached, for He cannot permit such idolatrous ideas to gain the upper hand in a nation.
