Yet, Lord, Thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me, being fully aware of their murderous plans against Jeremiah. Forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from Thy sight, indulgently overlooking their wickedness, but let them be overthrown before Thee; deal thus with them in the time of Thine anger. This appeal, altogether in the manner of the imprecatory psalms, was inspired by the zeal of the prophet for the honor of Jehovah, since the opponents stubbornly refused to listen to reason and to the warnings of God which called them to repentance.
