How amiable are Thy tabernacles, the places where God revealed Himself being both worthy of love and beloved by those who realize their importance, O Lord of hosts! The plural is used in speaking of God's habitations, because David had, at this time, erected a splendid tent on Mount Zion, which harbored the Ark of the Covenant, 2 Samuel 6:17; 2 Samuel 7:2. But the old Tabernacle near Gibeon was still in use, one of the high priests being on duty there with regular priests and Levites as his assistants, 1 Chronicles 22:19; 2 Chronicles 1:3.
