The term father seems to be used collectively for the forefathers of Moses.

The God of Abraham.

God who had revealed himself to the old patriarchs and entered into covenant with them.

Moses hid his face.

The awe produced by the divine voice and the declaration that Jehovah was speaking caused him to hide his face lest he should be guilty of gazing, profanely on the revelation of the Holy One.
