4. On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes.

Reckoning the distance from Beersheba to Moriah as 45 miles, if they traveled 15 miles the first day, and 20 miles the second day, there is yet ten miles of travel for the third day, on which they came in sight of the place, yet at. distance. If it be asked how Abraham knew the place, it may be answered that God had promised to show him the mountain, and we may be assured that he did, giving some sign that would be understood.
