Behold he cometh with clouds.

The mind of John turns to the second coming of Christ. It is uniformly represented that, as. cloud received him from sight when he was last seen by his disciples, so when he comes again he will appear riding on the clouds of heaven. See Matthew 24:30; Mark 13:26. Clouds are appropriate symbols of Divine majesty and are often so employed in the Scriptures. See Exodus 19:18; Psalms 18:11.

Every eye shall see him.

From his cloud chariot he will be visible to all the inhabitants of the earth, those that pierced him, his enemies who pierced him on the cross and have continued to pierce him through the centuries by "crucifying him afresh," and to his friends.

All kindreds... shall wail, etc.

Shall wail because they have rejected him. There shall be those of all families and nations that are rebels against his authority.
