Cambridge Greek Testament Commentary

2 Timothy 2:3

συνκακοπάθησον. The rec. text has σὺ οὖν κακοπάθησον with a few authorities; but the evidence is convincing for συνκακοπάθησον.

Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ. The rec. text has Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ with D2cKL; but the order Χρ. Ἰη. has the great weight of authority in its favour.

3. συνκακοπάθησον. Take your share of hardship. see on 2 Timothy 1:8, and cp. also the critical note above.

ὡς καλὸς στρατιώτης Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ. Cp. 1 Timothy 1:18, and see the note on καλός at 1 Timothy 1:8. A καλὸς στρατιώτης is a soldier ‘sans peur et sans reproche.’
