τὸν δόκιμον ἐν Χρ. marks some special difficulty faithfully overcome; cf. 1 Corinthians 11:19; 2 Corinthians 10:18; 2 Timothy 2:15; James 1:12.

τοὺς ἐκ τῶν Ἀριστοβούλου prob. = Aristobulus, brother of Herod Agrippa I., who lived a long time in Rome and was a friend of the Emperor Claudius, οἱ ἐκ τ. = some of his slaves, probably now connected with the imperial household, though treated as a separate group; A. being either dead or resident in Palestine.
