of Cephas See Luke 24:34. St Paul and St John alone use the Aramaic form of the Apostle's surname, the former only in this Epistle and once in the Epistle to the Galatians. This, coupled with the fact that St John only uses the Aramaic form in the narrative in ch. John 1:42, is one of those minute touches which speak strongly for the genuineness of his gospel.
