his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah The story of Amaziah's challenge to Jehoash is told in 2 Kings 14:8-14 and in 2 Chronicles 25. He was proud of his victory over Edom, and sent to the king of Israel saying, -Come let us see one another in the face", and, in spite of the wise message of Jehoash, would come forth to battle and was defeated at Beth-shemesh. After his victory the king of Israel broke down a part of the wall of Jerusalem, and carried away the treasures and vessels both from the house of the Lord and from the king's house.
