into the hand of the doers of the work R.V. of the workmen. Two sets of people are here both called -doers of the work" (R.V. workmen), first, those who have the oversight, whom we should now call perhaps -contractors" or -architects": and secondly, the actual artificers, carpenters, &c. The former received the money in gross, and paid it out for wages to the several classes of workmen. So R.V. also translates the close of this verse -to the workmen which are in the house of the Lord".
