for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly Better, the entrance shall be richly bestowed or supplied. The verb is the same as that which is translated "add" in 2 Peter 1:5, where see note. The Greek has the article with the noun as defining the entrance to be that which was the well-known object of the faith and hope of all Christians. In St Peter's use of the word we may, perhaps, trace an echo of 1Th 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 2:1, though it is used there in a lower sense.

everlasting The rule of keeping, as far as possible, to uniformity of rendering would make eternal preferable. It is, perhaps, worth noting that this is the only passage in the New Testament in which the adjective is joined to "kingdom."
