which thou gavest Better, whom Thouhast given: in the next clause -gavest" is right. Sometimes the Father is said to -give" or -draw" men to Christ (John 17:24; John 6:37; John 6:44; John 6:65; John 10:29; John 18:9); sometimes Christ is said to -choose" them (John 6:70; John 15:16): but it is always in their power to refuse; there is no compulsion (John 1:11-12; John 3:18-19; John 12:47-48).
