the glory of the Lord The Shechinah, or cloud of brightness which symbolised the Divine Presence, as in Exo 24:16; 1 Kings 8:10; Isaiah 6:1-3; Acts 7:55. See on Luke 1:35. The presence of the Shechinah was reckoned as one of the most precious blessings of Israel, Romans 9:4.
