thus were they numbered of him, as&c. This is a paraphrase which gives the required sense. The Heb. is corrupt, but the LXX. reads and they were numbered, as &c.1 [Note: Apparently וַיְפֻקְדוּ כַאֲשֶׁר for וּפְקֻדָיו אֲשֶׁר.]
