Thou Psalms 74:13; Psalms 74:17all begin with an emphatic Thou; Psalms 74:16 with Thine. It is Thou and none other, Who didst and doest all these things. The Asaphite Psalms are full of references to the Exodus.

by thy strength Cp. Psalms 77:14; Exodus 15:13. The dragonsor sea monsters, and leviathan, either the crocodile or some vague mythological monster, are symbolical of Egypt. Cp. Isaiah 27:1; Isaiah 51:9; Ezekiel 29:3.

in the waters Lit. upon the waters, the symbolical monsters being imagined as floating upon the surface of the water. The reference of course is to the destruction of Pharaoh's army in the Red Sea.
