Text (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.

Translation and Paraphrase

24.

He who calls you (into his kingdom and glory) is faithful, who will also do (this thing, that is, preserve our spirit, soul, and body blameless).

Notes (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

1.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Paul prayed that God would sanctify us wholly, and preserve our spirit, soul, and body at the coming of Christ. If God were not faithful and did not help us to be sanctified, it would never be accomplished.

2.

Christians both can and must trust God. We cannot let fear rule our lives. Fear will make us timid and hesitant. Faith in a faithful God will drive out fear.

3.

Many Scriptures tell of the faithfulness of God. He never fails to do what He says He will do. See 1 Corinthians 1:9; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Thessalonians 3:3; 1 John 1:9; 2 Timothy 2:13; Deuteronomy 7:9.

4.

God calls us into His kingdom and glory. 1 Thessalonians 2:12. He calls us by the gospel. 2 Thessalonians 2:14.

5.

We can be confident in what God can and will do. He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think. Ephesians 3:20. He will perfect our good work until the day of Christ. Philippians 1:6.
