Col. 2:20. "Wherefore, if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances?" This world is not the contrary of the Church. Christ, after He rose from the dead, was no longer a proper inhabitant of this world, and therefore was no longer subject to the ceremonial Law. So is the Church which is mystical and dead, and risen with Christ. Christ is the representative of the Church, and therefore the Church has communion with Him in this alteration of His state.
