Isa. 3:10, 11. What is contained in these two verses seems to be an introduction to what follows. Through the former part of this book, Isaiah proceeds in his preaching, to the end of chap. 35, agreeably to the direction given him of God in this verse, - interchangeably threatening terrible judgments to the wicked that were in Israel, and revealing glorious promises to the righteous among them; as from hence to the end of this chapter the prophet says to the wicked it shall be ill with him; in the next chapter he says to the righteous it shall be well with him. In the first twelve verses of the 6th chapter, he again says to the wicked it shall be ill with him; and Isaiah 6:13; Isaiah 7:1-16, he says to the righteous it shall be well with him; but verse 8 is a threatening to the wicked, verse 17 to the end to the wicked; Isaiah 8:1-8, to the wicked, verses 9-10, the righteous; verse 14, part to the righteous and part to the wicked; verse 15, to the wicked; verses 16, 17, to the righteous; from thence to end, to the wicked; Isaiah 9:1-7, to the righteous; verse 8 to the end, Isaiah 10:1-6, to the wicked; verse 6 to the end, and Isaiah chap. 11, 12, 13, and 14, to the righteous; chap. 24:1-12, to the wicked; verse 13 to the end, and Isaiah 25 and 26:1-9, to the righteous; verses 10, 11, to the wicked; verse 12 to the end, and chap. 27, to the righteous; Isaiah 28:1-4, to the wicked; verses 5, 6, to the righteous; verses 7, 8, to the wicked; verses 9, 10, to the righteous; verses 11-15, to the wicked; verse 16, to the righteous; verses 17-22, to the wicked; verse 23 to end, to righteous; Isaiah 29:1-4, to the wicked; verses 5-8, to the righteous; verses 9-16, to the wicked; verse 17 to end, to the righteous; Isaiah 30:1-7, to the wicked, verse 18, to the end, to the righteous; chap. 31:1-3, to the wicked; verse 4 to end, and chap. 32:1-8, to the righteous; verses 9-14, to the wicked; verse 15 to end, and Isaiah 33:1-6, to the righteous; verses 7-14, to the wicked; verses 15-17, to the righteous; verses 17, 18, to the wicked; verse 19, to end, and chap. 34 and 35 to the righteous.
