Job 33:14-16

14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

Job 33:14-16. "For God speaketh once, yea, twice - In a dream, in a vision of the night." Also, chap. Job 4:12; Job 4:13, etc. It was a common thing, before there was any written revelation, for God to reveal himself to holy men in visions and dreams. See Numbers 12:6; Genesis 15:1, and verse 12, to the end; Genesis 46:2; Job 33:16, "Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction." By affliction, that is, when men will not hearken to God's instructions and warnings in his word (that in those days was wont to be given after this manner, and delivered from father to son), then he chastens them in his providence to make them hear.
