2 Kings 12:17,18

2 KINGS—NOTE ON 2 Kings 12:17 Judah, like Israel (2 Kings 10:32), is oppressed by Hazael king of Syria. In fact, Joash had to empty the treasuries of the house of the LORD and of the king’s house. Long past are the days when the king of Israel had “rest on every side” (1 Kings 5:4). Much later, Haggai 2:7 foretold that one day the nations would bring their wealth to the temple.
