2 KINGS—NOTE ON 2 Kings 12:4 repair the house. There were three sources of income for the repairs. Two of these were from regular temple income: payments from the census of male Israelites (money for which each man is assessed; Exodus 30:11), and monetary equivalents for things dedicated to God (money from the assessment of persons; Leviticus 27:1). The third source of income, money that a man’s heart prompts him to bring, refers to a special fund-raising campaign.
