2 KINGS—NOTE ON 2 Kings 15:5 a leper to the day of his death. Sometime during his reign, Azariah became a leper and was unable to govern. He occupied a separate house, which is a symbolic way of saying that he was relieved of his responsibilities. He was regarded as essentially dead. See note on 2 Chron. 26:21–23. Azariah’s son Jotham governed Judah in his place.
