GENESIS—NOTE ON Genesis 45:10 The precise location of the land of Goshen is not known. It was probably a region in the eastern delta of the Nile, in the area of the Wadi Tumilat. Joseph chooses Goshen because it was good land for herdsmen and it was close to him. It was far enough away from Egypt, though, that the family would keep their ethnic and religious distinctiveness.
