Hosea 4:12,13

HOSEA—NOTE ON Hosea 4:12 These verses describe breaking God’s laws by following Canaanite religious practices. inquire of a piece of wood. They would ask for guidance from an idol carved out of wood. led them astray. Like sheep following a wicked shepherd. Therefore your daughters play the whore. There is a connection between following a false religion (which is spiritual adultery, vv. Hosea 4:12) and the immoral conduct (physical adultery) of the next generation (“Therefore,” v. Hosea 4:13; compare v. Hosea 4:6). The parents turned away from God, and as a consequence he allowed their daughters and other young women (your brides) to stray into sexual immorality.
