Psalm PSALM—NOTE ON Psalms 26:1. This psalm may be part of an entrance liturgy by which pilgrims came into the sanctuary. If this is the case, the psalm shows those who attend worship what qualities the ideal covenant participant should possess (see Psalms 15:1 and Psalms 24:1). The psalmist’s claims of innocence must be understood in light of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness (Psalms 26:3). This clearly echoes Exodus 34:6 and shows that God’s grace is the foundation for holy living.
