Psalm PSALM—NOTE ON Psalms 38:1. In this lament the singer lays his troubles before God, fully realizing that those troubles result from his own sin. The psalm describes anguish of body and mind, desertion by friends, and how the singer’s folly has made him vulnerable to enemies. The title associates the psalm with the “memorial offering” (see note on Lev. 2:1–3).
