"He took Paul's belt" "Outer garments worn in the first century were loose and flowing robes, and the belt was used to bind them to the body at the waist" (Reese p. 787). "Bound his own feet and hands" The manuscripts vary here between the hands of Paul and the hands of Agabus. The prophets often used such visual aids (1 Kings 2:11; Jeremiah 2:1; Jeremiah 2:2; Ezekiel 2:1; Ezekiel 2:1; Isaiah 2:3). "This is what the Holy Spirit says" Agabus now directly quotes the words that the Holy Spirit had revealed to him. "In this way the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles" See Acts 21:23; Acts 24:1 ff.
