None of the people present were the actual eyewitnesses of this accusation against Paul. Neither Ananias, nor the elders nor Tertullus had seen Paul do anything in the temple. Where are the eyewitnesses who claimed that they had seen him defile the temple? "Those who first seized him, and who were the only personal witnesses of what he did in the temple, were not present to testify" (McGarvey p. 237).
