1 Corinthians 10:2 evbapti,sqhsan {C}

On the basis of what was taken to be superior evidence and Pauline usage, a majority of the Committee preferred the reading evbapti,sqhsan.

[It is more probable that copyists replaced the middle evbapti,santo (which corresponds to Jewish practice, according to which the convert baptized himself) with the passive (which is the usual expression in the case of Christian baptism, e.g. 1 Corinthians 1:13, 1 Corinthians 1:15; 1 Corinthians 12:13; etc.), than vice versa.
