Not counting the present passage, eu;cesqai occurs in the New Testament six times; proseu,cesqai occurs 85 times. Although proseu,cesqai appears four other times in this chapter without noteworthy variation among the witnesses, in the present passage the Committee preferred to follow a K P Y 056 0142 and most minuscules, which read eu;cesqe, and regarded proseu,cesqe, found in A (B proseu,cesqai) 048^vid and a few minuscules, as the result of scribal conformation to the customary Christian usage.
