The repetitious character of the text in this verse has facilitated the emergence of variant readings, the evaluation of which is correspondingly difficult. In order to represent the balance of the weight of witnesses that support the presence of o] le,gei (a² A B D² L Q Y al) or its absence (î^{5, 66} a* D* W ¦¹³ al), and in view of the possibility that the phrase was deleted either as being not absolutely necessary for the sense or was added in order to clarify the sense, the Committee decided to retain the words but to enclose them within square brackets.
