As far as external evidence is concerned, the reading ou- de, appears to be rather decisively supported (a* A B C 81 al). On the other hand, if ou- ga,r were original, one could understand that some scribes, noticing the presence of ga,r at the beginning of verses Romans 4:13, Romans 4:14, and Romans 4:15, might well have decided to replace the fourth instance of ga,r with de,. In the face of such considerations, the Committee preferred to adopt the reading supported by the earliest evidence.
