"And he (God) said unto me, it is done." This expression "it is done" has been used elsewhere in Revelation, where something has been brought to culmination. The meaning is that God has wrought out his purpose in saving his people, and here is the consummation; here is the climax of the long process of redemption. He has brought them home, he dwells among them, they are his people and he is their God. "It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely." fitting consummation of the story of redemption.
