Matthew 22:23-33

Religious leaders question Jesus about the resurrection Matthew 22:23-33; Mark 12:18-27; Luke 20:27-40; Matthew 22:23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, Mark 12:18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying, Luke 20:27 Then came to [him] certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, Matthew 22:24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Mark 12:19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave [his] wife [behind him], and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Luke 20:28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Matthew 22:25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Mark 12:20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed. Matthew 22:31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, Mark 12:26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I [am] the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? Luke 20:37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. Mark 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err. Luke 20:38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. Matthew 22:33 And when the multitude heard [this], they were astonished at his doctrine. Luke 20:39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. Luke 20:40 And after that they durst not ask him any [question at all].
