Jesus gives the Beatitudes Matthew 5:1-12; Luke 6:17-26; Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: Luke 6:17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; Luke 6:18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. Luke 6:19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed [them] all. Matthew 5:2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Luke 6:20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Matthew 5:3 Blessed [are] the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed [be ye] poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Matthew 5:4 Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed [are] the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:6 Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Luke 6:21 Blessed [are ye] that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed [are ye] that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Matthew 5:7 Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:10 Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from their company], and shall reproach [you], and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Matthew 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Luke 6:23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward [is] great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Luke 6:24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

Luke 6:25 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

Luke 6:26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
