Lawyers [ν ο μ ι κ ο ι]. Not legal practitioners, but interpreters and doctors of the Mosaic law.

Rejected [η θ ε τ η σ α ν]. Set aside, or annulled; made it vain through their disobedience.

Against themselves [ε ι σ ε α υ τ ο υ ς]. More strictly, with reference to themselves.
