In 2 Peter 1:3, 2 Peter 1:1, the word is qeioj, 'of or pertaining to God.' His divine power hath given us all things that pertain to life and godliness; also, through the communication of exceeding great and precious promises, believers become partakers of the divine nature. In Hebrews 9:1 the word is latreia, 'ordinances of service' (the word 'divine' is better left out, though it was God who gave the O.T. ritual) The same word is translated 'service' in John 16:2; Romans 9:4; Romans 1:12
