Designation of Ikkesh, father of Ira, one of David's mighty men. 2 Samuel 1:23; 1 Chronicles 1:11; 1 Chronicles 1:27. The Tekoites were inhabitants of Tekoa: they helped to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, but "their nobles put not their necks to the work of their Lord." Nehemiah 3:5, Nehemiah 1:3.
